Gold Leafed Angel Tower

Scope of Project This beautiful Italian bronze owned by my client had been patinated in a light, somewhat drab monotone color scheme (first two pictures below). It had become even more dull over the years and was showing signs of sustained corrosion in a few prominent areas. The sculpture exuded potential and exciting possbililties. It needed an enrichment in color and most importantly, depth and highlighting. I decided to use 22k gold leaf on certain areas as well as a light gold wash. Special pigmented waxes were used sparingly to give the wonderful depth and life that you see exhibited in the 2nd and 3rd row photos.
A 6" high Belgian Black marble base was fabricated to give the sculpture a more monumental quality. The client was extremely happy with the results.
